Follow your passion, and success will follow.
You have probably heard this saying a thousand times, but how many times have you given it a serious thought? It is true that strong values and talent contribute to success immensely, but loving what you do and pursuing your dreams can make a much more significant impact. And the world needs people who positively influence anyone they encounter, and their mere existence is a source of relief for someone- human or animal.
Jason Borkland hails from Austin, Texas, and grew up with a mindset to look beyond what he has and not retreat from obstacles. Despite having inherited ‘Heritage Body and Frame,’ one of the premier auto collision centers in the greater Austin area, Jason took out time and effort to pursue his life’s passion for diving. While as the current owner of multiple collision repair facilities, Jason strives to maintain the brand his father built and carry his legacy forward with top-notch services and quality.
Fortunately for Jason, he always had the chance to explore his passions and document his adventures as a diver. He attained his PADI certification in 2016 and holds EFR, O2, and Nitrox certifications.
According to Jason, his expeditions as a technical diver under the challenging oceans of the world has led him to get acquainted with the parts of the world that need to be saved. He shares those parts of the world through fantastic videography and photography. His list of travels under the water includes Belize, Bahamas, Cancun, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Guadalupe Island, and many others.
Since venturing into the world of exploring the seas, Jason teaches the skill to other divers. He collaborates with the scientific community to document the world below for research and conservation purposes. He has won the GoPro award multiple times for underwater images.
Costa Rica’s scientists have used Jason’s underwater photography talent to assist in policy change to protect critical areas. Jason has the permit to handle Sharks and Mantas in protected areas of Mexico and Costa Rica and at the World Heritage site Cocos Island. He is also an expert at underwater and above-water tagging of Tiger Sharks, Hammerhead sharks, Giant Mantas, and Galapagos sharks.
He has also worked with nonprofits like Fins Attached on projects intended to protect apex predators, especially sharks, through research, education, donations, and conservation activities. As a former board member of Finns Attached, Jason has presented the mission of the organization on multiple platforms and created awareness not just among the divers’ community but also instigated the conservation talks on the importance of marine ecosystem balance.
Jason creates incredible content to educate his audience on the matter. Check it out here and learn about marine life and how to save it.
