While the COVID-19 pandemic left the entire world in a state of havoc, one industry that stood firm through the storm is the creative space. People, free from their on-site jobs and in lockdown, had plenty of time on their hands to start exploring their inner creativity and turn to it for professional opportunities.
However, the vastness of the creative space, and the growing competition, made it all the more challenging. Its scope, and all the associated roles with it, is more difficult to grasp than that of the ‘traditional professions’. However, according to social media influencer Sacred Thomas, the secret to navigating the creative space lies in never giving up.
Apart from building a social media empire, Sacred Thomas is also the founder of the video production company and digital agency Sacred Shot Media, and has been conceptualizing and producing creative visuals for a long time. The aspiring creator has also ventured into modeling, and has filmed as well as walked numerous fashion shows, including the most recent ‘Chainguardians’ show at New York Fashion Week 2022.
Growing up, Thomas had a very creative background, in a house full of all types of creators – including actors, models, singers, and even dancers. He would always film workout videos, travel trips, and recap reels of his friends and family – for no gain except that he loved to do so. This, in turn, offered him an insight into the creative world early on. Although he doesn’t appear to be pursuing an acting career like his father, MiamiVice actor Philip Michael Thomas, the young Sacred Thomas has definitely followed in his footsteps when it comes to pursuing a creative career.
While many parents might urge their children to ditch their pipe dreams of creative roles for a ‘real job’, Thomas’ parents were quite the opposite. His parents supported his dreams from an early age, never forced him to pursue traditional careers, and encouraged him to discover his passions and follow them.
“The most valuable lesson I ever got from both of my parents was to be creative, dream big, and never limit our thinking in what was possible,” says the videographer. “As long as you’re willing to work for it, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.” The same is the case with the creative industry; navigating it isn’t easy but sometimes you just have to reignite that flame and keep going.
Fast forward, this mindset helped him channel his expertise in the best ways possible, leading to the creation of Sacred Shot Media. “Social media is a growing tool for all businesses,” says Thomas, whose personal experience of creating a social media empire sets his company apart from other video production companies. The aspiring creator is well aware of all the essential elements of creating content that not only does well but also conveys the client’s story as clearly as possible.
That being said, Thomas is still early on in his career and has already become an inspiration for many. He aims to grow his social media following to over a million followers and inspire them through his captivating video work. One of his goals is to show his followers that if someone who learned everything from YouTube can build the life of his dreams, they can too. The only condition is never to give up.
