Whether your astrological reading is your first or your twentieth, here are five tips to make it a worthwhile and rewarding experience.
Make notes
Astrological readings last at least an hour and can go up to two hours. They cover a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to): the family dynamic you were raised into, emotional reactions, cognitive blind spots, default patterns of thought, relationship guidance, and crucial future dates to remember.
There are other aspects that you may not even notice (or grasp the significance of) until weeks or months later when you listen again.
Take notes if you’re a note-taker by nature. Many people, however, find it difficult to record while listening to someone speak. In that situation, I strongly advise you to keep track of your astrological reading.
Actively participate
A conversation with a customer is far more enjoyable for both you and the astrologist than him delivering a monologue.
An astrological reading is an opportunity to have a talk about yourself while using your birth chart as a guide. Please, by all means, seek information as you go. Also, if the astrologer says something that doesn’t make sense or confuses you, inform them right away. This is your time and money, and your time together should be enlightening and beneficial to you.
Some people believe that it is advisable to remain silent during an astrological reading in order to avoid “giving anything away.” Your birth chart, on the other hand, speaks for you. The astrologer has most likely studied it before your reading and has prepared their talking points.
Be open-minded to objective assessment
Astrology, as a source of insight, recognizes our strengths and talents… and also our flaws and places for growth.
Compassion and empathy are frequently valued by astrologers. They also take my duty as an astrologer seriously, which necessitates them sharing all that is seen in the chart truthfully. It could be a bloated ego (Jupiter square sun), emotional instability (Uranus square moon), or misdirected and problematic hostility (Mars conjunct the sun and square Pluto) that requires it to be tamed.
This is not done to bring somebody down; rather, it is done to get to the heart of the matter and offer helpful advice on whatever you need to master in order to assist your personal growth. Anyone who’s had a consultation knows how quickly an hour can pass.
The astrologer must get right to the point. I recommend delaying an astrological reading until you’re psychologically ready to see in a spiritual and emotional mirror that leaves nothing to the imagination.
And, like with any evaluation, you’ll come away from a consultation with a lot to reflect on and suggestions for what to focus on and address deliberately.
Seek clarity
Astrologers can — and do — offer guidance on how to proceed depending on the future terrain of your chart. You do, however, have free will. They don’t like to conceive of myself as — or place me in the role of — an all-knowing guru whose commands must be followed.
If an astrologer sees Uranus testing your own planets during the next 9 months, they will strongly advise you to embrace detachment and remain adaptable during that period because things will be drastically shifting. That information should be enough to guide your decisions. “I was thinking about moving to the opposite side of the country in 3 months; should I do it?” If you asked an astrologer, Isn’t it a moot point?
It is debatable. They hope that by using what you’ve learned from their reading, you’ll be able to make an informed decision.
Think about the lesson
Astrologers don’t believe in dread and gloom. They also avoid wearing rose-colored glasses.
Yes, in such a case, A transit of Jupiter training (120 degrees distant from) your sun is objectively far more favorable than Pluto squaring (90 degrees away). The Pluto transit, on the other hand, is taking place for a cause. It has nothing to do with “poor karma,” “suffering for the purpose of suffering,” or your status as a helpless puppet on a planet hundreds of thousands of light-years away.
Consider planets to be eminent professors in specific fields. You’ve been enrolled in one of their schools when they come around and make a trip to your sun, moon, sensitive angles, or personal planets (Mercury, Venus, and Mars). It’s time to go to class, study, and get ready for the unexpected pop quiz — and, toward the end of the semester, a final exam.
The pattern of your birth chart will reveal how difficult it will be for you to learn. If your birth chart has a lot of Uranus aspects (and/or a lot of planets in Aquarius), for example, a Uranus transit will be simpler for you than if your birth chart has a lot of Saturn aspects.
Lessons and motifs are instilled by planetary transits. Pluto, for example, requires you to confront your darkness (oftentimes, so you can finally kiss it goodbye). You’ll advance to the next level if you do exactly that.
